WIP Wednesday (and the stripes continue)

Click now for JiffNotes

I am still liking this pattern with the stripes!

I wish I'd done an afterthought heel (even though I don't know how to do one =) but I'm not too mad about how the stripes joined up after I picked up the heel flap stitches. If I were more persnickety, I would have cut the yarn and restarted the striping sequence at that point. But I just wanted to keep knitting! I always struggle with dividing the stitches evenly for Magic Loop after picking up the gusset stitches. Does anyone have any hints?

Ooh, two at a time! Brave girl. Sadly, I have no tips for you since I've got my first magic loop sock on the needles now. Will be watching though. They look awesome!

Oh pretty, not sure how to do what you're asking but if the feet of the socks will be in shoes I don't think I'd fuss, bu that's just me.

Nice pattern! I tried taat socks once and got in such a tangle lol. Could you frog back and do an afterthought heel like you suggested? I've done after thought pockets and they weren't that hard, I'm sure you'd be able to work out how to do a heel too :-)

Isn't the heel hidden inside your shoes/boots anyway? Why would it matter how the stripes lined up? I'm speaking from absolutely no know knowledge of sock knitting of course! ;-)

All I see is a beautiful color combo and very pretty knitting!

I don't know what an afterthought heel is. :-) Your socks look good to me! Regula

No hints about magic loop from me and I've only ever done an afterthought heel with DPNs. It's pretty easy - just knit in waste yarn where you want the heel so that you can go back later and pick up live stitches. Not unlike a mitten thumb.

The stripes look great cabled!

The socks look great! I've never actually knit a sock with sock yarn. Do felted slippers count?

Those socks are looking gorgeous! I've never tried magic loop at all ... I just plod along with the ol' double points. Can't teach an old dog new tricks I guess.

I've switched to dpn's for heels when I'm magic looping. Afterthought heels are easy and awesome.

Very nice!

I do my socks on two circs and the heels can be so confusing to me sometimes when I'm following a pattern, that I actually take them off those needles and knit them separately to a certain point and then put them back on. Heh.

Oh, these looks so warm and soft! Sadly, no tips from me - I'm just "Wow, I wish I could knit like this" - ing from the side :)
