Human passions unbridled

Today's quote is from John Adams, one of the prime architects of the Constitution (and our second president, for those who, like me, have not memorized the whole chain of succession):

We have no government armed in power capable of contending in human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our Constitution was made for a moral and a religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.

Wholly inadequte, indeed.

Something Perfectly Wonderful

Just a quote today, some food for thought: Kurt Vonnegut, who died April 11, said that human bodies "are miracles of design. Scientists are pretending they have the answers for how we got this way when natural selection couldn't possibly have produced such machines.... Something perfectly wonderful is going on, I do not doubt it. But the explanations I hear do not satisfy me."

I hope you all can find something perfectly wonderful.
