I'm a programmer, but I consider needlework a very "technical" pursuit. At least ones that won't make even me groan as I type them. I've been doing pretty well with working on something different every day. Most of you have probably seen this small already, since I used it for Jo's Easter Blog Hop, but since I BARELY finished it in March, I figured it could count for April. Plus, I somehow took a thousand pictures of the bunny's left side, but none of her right, I thought she needed another glamour shot, with the help of my lovely assistant.<br />

Let's take another break from stitching and look at some lovely tulips! Every year, the Atlanta Botanical Garden plants thousands of bulbs. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKPnCczeg2MTgTxKNt_NvJC4yMFbZCteNt47NWCZMqN4GOCeLcQ1akcdK6GlfSBmfcqCUnhZtDq_pcupBMqCCJ1DLKeRrt9ih00lQLpYtFPtfIGpErGLJWrtqqYXpYL9YzM_05SHxjxh0/s1600/DSC05720.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKPnCczeg2MTgTxKNt_NvJC4yMFbZCteNt47NWCZMqN4GOCeLcQ1akcdK6GlfSBmfcqCUnhZtDq_pcupBMqCCJ1DLKeRrt9ih00lQLpYtFPtfIGpErGLJWrtqqYXpYL9YzM_05SHxjxh0/s400/DSC05720.JPG" width="400" height="266" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="532" /></a></div><br />
They generally bloom from mid-February through the end of March. This makes early March a particularly good time to visit the Garden, since Orchid Daze, which starts in February, is also still going on. The pictures in this post were taken on March 10th this year. Some of the tulips had already finished blooming, and there were a few that still had not bloomed.<br />
<br />

<br />
To start off the final week of March Madness, I drew the ever-popular blank slip of paper, which lets me stitch on anything I want! However, because I was feeling brain dead, I asked Michael what I should stitch. His reply was, "America!" LOL! "OK," I said immediately, "upstairs America or downstairs America?" Which completely makes sense because I have a sort of split stash right now; part is upstairs and part is downstairs. He chose upstairs.<br />

<br />
March 26th brought us back to Moss Creek, where I did some chain stitch borders.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3e1nF2DVnfdfcx4f_YfWgi3br4NY8k2LUEfuQDEIs48eSsL6stMdSPqCiJ0qknmIp3Pvzjq61vh6OIXr5CQemOieaVgdYMIC0AUsSktZxmvLU2sPlqi8N55RZA6mpaac0kC77yKYj_ho/s1600/March26.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3e1nF2DVnfdfcx4f_YfWgi3br4NY8k2LUEfuQDEIs48eSsL6stMdSPqCiJ0qknmIp3Pvzjq61vh6OIXr5CQemOieaVgdYMIC0AUsSktZxmvLU2sPlqi8N55RZA6mpaac0kC77yKYj_ho/s400/March26.JPG" width="400" height="253" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="505" /></a></div>Wow, I have a lot of Moss Creek projects in progress!<br />
<br />
The next day I didn't actually work on a project. I lost heart because this chosen piece of knitting had been nibbled by moths a couple places, despite the cedar wood I keep with it!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-fEjSlimulnJ_Fi4LkQoxbklen9pp8LgEoyEoKJhUGEJ5vLDb1FE5P7rv1RDdibcYdh5CFgtZL5oEMA5kwCl-HfNqfGLT14szEn79I7Xl6igplEpJFNStXJVGkJ-K6BqGRDYDZ81R5Vc/s1600/March27.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-fEjSlimulnJ_Fi4LkQoxbklen9pp8LgEoyEoKJhUGEJ5vLDb1FE5P7rv1RDdibcYdh5CFgtZL5oEMA5kwCl-HfNqfGLT14szEn79I7Xl6igplEpJFNStXJVGkJ-K6BqGRDYDZ81R5Vc/s400/March27.JPG" width="311" height="400" data-original-width="621" data-original-height="800" /></a></div>This was a class I took with Cornelia Hamilton, and although I love the colors (I have several skeins of Noro I'm rotating among), it seems like a weird size to me. Too wide to be a scarf and too narrow to be a shawl (the kacha counter is for scale). Maybe if I felted it when it was done? It's pretty tightly knit, though, so I'm not sure it would shrink much. Not knowing what to do with this is not making me excited to work on it. And I just couldn't face trying to fix those holes!<br />
<br />
The next day we were back to hardanger!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEis53y_WG7Lu8R0m7DHbJxGL3SXtLZmlkKy7UF3ME87AbIOyCE8gSsrY1CI4c9Sd_PAL8jlbioHQWjoLbMQZmEbYOp4giHz5VYwkk8VEYrrkUy7MccakjvTULtyPh73VhLjwUc74nMn340/s1600/March28.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEis53y_WG7Lu8R0m7DHbJxGL3SXtLZmlkKy7UF3ME87AbIOyCE8gSsrY1CI4c9Sd_PAL8jlbioHQWjoLbMQZmEbYOp4giHz5VYwkk8VEYrrkUy7MccakjvTULtyPh73VhLjwUc74nMn340/s400/March28.JPG" width="400" height="366" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="732" /></a></div>This is another project I should really finish....<br />
<br />
Next it was Christmas in...April with Victoria Sampler's Heirloom Christmas Sampler.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaqJHOBWU5dD0y8-ndoRn2xHAd0lgp9I2aSZyczUKI3enMLFVYnHMHexoDzgtuivoRCpYShceCpvFw7pHiiZ0ILxLzkoQLRLnkiHQkqLAG3e7IQTHp_dapOezRyK_i7QIV5nOK1QEywBE/s1600/March29.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaqJHOBWU5dD0y8-ndoRn2xHAd0lgp9I2aSZyczUKI3enMLFVYnHMHexoDzgtuivoRCpYShceCpvFw7pHiiZ0ILxLzkoQLRLnkiHQkqLAG3e7IQTHp_dapOezRyK_i7QIV5nOK1QEywBE/s400/March29.JPG" width="378" height="400" data-original-width="755" data-original-height="800" /></a></div><br />
On Good Friday, I was too exhausted to stitch at the end of the day, so I took a break. The final day of March Madness, the SCOD once again coughed up a blank slip of paper! What a finale!! And what did I choose to stitch? Prancer! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAXC1hiedaLAzcpIl0h9UH1aE-GqT7Upp-L2lRJlpwMl_d06gJ-I7vLVwojL9Kkz5no5trgttmyvgJWGbiNO7wMZp2zcQR3ZB7KP8CceshxdZWVdnLHCRJde2AZwFf8W1KbpAhV14eq54/s1600/DSC05869.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAXC1hiedaLAzcpIl0h9UH1aE-GqT7Upp-L2lRJlpwMl_d06gJ-I7vLVwojL9Kkz5no5trgttmyvgJWGbiNO7wMZp2zcQR3ZB7KP8CceshxdZWVdnLHCRJde2AZwFf8W1KbpAhV14eq54/s400/DSC05869.JPG" width="331" height="400" data-original-width="662" data-original-height="800" /></a></div><br />
I have decided to make Prancer a WIP Wednesday project to take a break once a week from the breakneck speed knitting I'm going to have to do to finish Loopy Academy Senior Year. I am looking at the projects I chose and saying, "WHAT WAS I THINKING??!?!!!" <br />
<br />
So there it is, folks, the final March Madness post. What do you think...could you do this for a month? I think I need to do some mad weekends every now and then. The SCOD gets really lonely between Marches.<br />
<br />

<tr><td>I really think I should get a prize for not starting anything new when the Sparkly Compote of Decree gave me not one but TWO blank slips of paper AND a project I'd already completed. I am a paragon of virtue, I tell you (says the woman with too many WIPs to count).</td></tr>

<br />
*ahem* <br />
<br />
Sorry, I have no idea why I started talking like a pirate for a moment. It won't happen...um, at least for the rest of this post. Probably.<br />
<br />
Anyway! Before a glorious Easter and some lovely orchids invaded the blog, we were in the throes of March Madness, where an inanimate object dictates my stitching for the month. Winding up to the final week, the SCOD decided to go on a run of unusual techniques. First up was some Teneriffe Lace.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihw0i7_2jFYkubF2sud8hE6_KzYwYENJBm7mu4Lxr0o_5e5AAFu6hGDbDiSSW42b1YfODK66oG8-xBKjAVbXjyxDS7SPTTet_r7kkagtKaoTKSJDY4YEMzqPXWVjH45c-qSAvRKmq0od0/s1600/March20.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihw0i7_2jFYkubF2sud8hE6_KzYwYENJBm7mu4Lxr0o_5e5AAFu6hGDbDiSSW42b1YfODK66oG8-xBKjAVbXjyxDS7SPTTet_r7kkagtKaoTKSJDY4YEMzqPXWVjH45c-qSAvRKmq0od0/s400/March20.JPG" width="400" height="266" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="532" /></a></div>This was a class I took many moons ago. So close to finishing! This one went in a pile that I might work on once I get back to a rotation.<br />
<br />
Next up was a Kumihimo necklace that is almost finished!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfe8fiOESfW4sPbd78EbU7J58wB_ozhq0UfDoBhOCOLVZTkEQNUk2HRmXej1rgFNMgira2X4cXgvgXr_m-4wjkRCVaXnEyuAkcpBbupNzD0ezhk4dPP4GHKjZ3AW8mC5ufOon2mLuinIM/s1600/March21_1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfe8fiOESfW4sPbd78EbU7J58wB_ozhq0UfDoBhOCOLVZTkEQNUk2HRmXej1rgFNMgira2X4cXgvgXr_m-4wjkRCVaXnEyuAkcpBbupNzD0ezhk4dPP4GHKjZ3AW8mC5ufOon2mLuinIM/s400/March21_1.JPG" width="400" height="297" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="594" /></a></div>In fact, when I got it out to work on it, I realized that all I needed to do was tie it off and attach the hardware...which I had even remembered to put with the necklace! Could it be?? An actual finish during March Madness?? For the first time ever???!???<br />
<br />
Um...no. I could not find my E6000 glue. :( So, I decided to work on another Kumihimo braid that I started when I was helping some friends learn. I got the pattern from <a href="http://friendship-bracelets.net/kumihimos.php">this site</a> (careful, it's addicting!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9a9X_Go7mPpBzkPaaJ1QXzXthsOfxoSijmbBK9V5LlL2Zq_W0U4NK91StfGfNhyi-BjBpzdR-mmpGh9AgmK8mLbfJgxWoz-N3us0orD_znjP3jGTd129Okdw8u6eOCof_NFdhbA9TSlo/s1600/March21_2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9a9X_Go7mPpBzkPaaJ1QXzXthsOfxoSijmbBK9V5LlL2Zq_W0U4NK91StfGfNhyi-BjBpzdR-mmpGh9AgmK8mLbfJgxWoz-N3us0orD_znjP3jGTd129Okdw8u6eOCof_NFdhbA9TSlo/s400/March21_2.JPG" width="400" height="331" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="662" /></a></div>This design uses...a few more bobbins than the beaded necklace! Here's what the braid looks like:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwv6r4LQsoPt2pS0DTNWszFoafhVcjj5VzIRZppH62f98vHIYGQWIovtNtNWjpAZTz371fhFt-xqnVsnXNCEZKey6mXRbZv9rRtQsN26ootXoKccLfLKMsUmoWSiAglrR_dLchukEYKDE/s1600/March21_3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwv6r4LQsoPt2pS0DTNWszFoafhVcjj5VzIRZppH62f98vHIYGQWIovtNtNWjpAZTz371fhFt-xqnVsnXNCEZKey6mXRbZv9rRtQsN26ootXoKccLfLKMsUmoWSiAglrR_dLchukEYKDE/s400/March21_3.JPG" width="400" height="266" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="532" /></a></div>R2-D2 is a needle minder that I used as a weight to start the braid. The alternative would have been to try and keep tension on the braid with a couple fingers while also holding on to the kumihimo disk in the same hand. So since I don't own fancy kumihimo weights, R2-D2 was...my only hope. (See what I did there? Eh??)<br />
<br />
March 22nd brought me some hardanger to work on. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjf-XlITaVknRpLp0mGxO40oM5mGBPAJR8p-UF3QCU5NBD801zqdXzg7JdSKM_Tnge5Slb_roPUMeivvXe7mq5OMS656Yt0-d_jNdm1zLjFrA4b82So-mhvcCWaSA3YH3Ekb4bxEgOwc-Q/s1600/March22.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjf-XlITaVknRpLp0mGxO40oM5mGBPAJR8p-UF3QCU5NBD801zqdXzg7JdSKM_Tnge5Slb_roPUMeivvXe7mq5OMS656Yt0-d_jNdm1zLjFrA4b82So-mhvcCWaSA3YH3Ekb4bxEgOwc-Q/s400/March22.JPG" width="400" height="307" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="613" /></a></div>I had already done the preparation work for a motif, so I was able to finish it that night!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixlZD73AZICCtQWqpW6NvHljcj8r6_sq3SVro63TSpQZfb88IaSqQVpqdoPlUJ-3KzH-Psfe6QuJ1srazaMeORTFhfahHCpDIASJSUqGZODQsOlWe0nVoak4_FwsFVgIkOjqArtMkXuwA/s1600/March22_2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixlZD73AZICCtQWqpW6NvHljcj8r6_sq3SVro63TSpQZfb88IaSqQVpqdoPlUJ-3KzH-Psfe6QuJ1srazaMeORTFhfahHCpDIASJSUqGZODQsOlWe0nVoak4_FwsFVgIkOjqArtMkXuwA/s400/March22_2.JPG" width="400" height="395" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="790" /></a></div>Those are eight little woven wheels, one around each wrapped bar. This was a teaching piece by Linda Driskell. The sad thing is, I remember her finished sampler having a beautiful top and bottom, but it must have been charted separately, because it's not part of my class kit! I can't even find a picture of it to try to recreate it (although I went down some very pleasant rabbit holes on Google trying to find one!) <br />
<br />
After this trio, we went back to some "normal" cross stitch, with Autumn Queen by Mirabilia.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHAZUdqlRctCRPbNwKnmMppOpyeAtDz496AgDS-Z_BbbYRdwp1xbTx01Nuz0uANIpsdwpthP0dqKxip8aqzGo1DsADEteeAMd0bZzpgJxTctVXhKXj4vILj1wodAolCU1Bv5kGibMyuho/s1600/March23.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHAZUdqlRctCRPbNwKnmMppOpyeAtDz496AgDS-Z_BbbYRdwp1xbTx01Nuz0uANIpsdwpthP0dqKxip8aqzGo1DsADEteeAMd0bZzpgJxTctVXhKXj4vILj1wodAolCU1Bv5kGibMyuho/s400/March23.JPG" width="400" height="356" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="711" /></a></div>This caused many exciting trips up and down the stairs where I tried to find my longer Q-Snaps. Aerobic crafting. Excellent.<br />
<br />
The next day, I drew a project out of the Sparkly Compote of Decree that I actually finished last year! I looked at Michael and said, "Wow! Who knows what happens when I draw a project that I already finished?" His reply was, "<i>No one</i> knows what happens when you draw a project you've finished." Smart aleck. I figured that meant I needed to start a new project, but then I remembered that the Easter blog hop was coming up and I needed to be all responsible and stitch on something for that. If you were here last week, you saw what it was...Just Nan's Strawberry Bunny.<br />
<br />
I think I'll save the final week for another post. Until then, fair weather (we could all use it!) and flying needles be with you!<br />

Hello! If you arrived at my blog through Jo's wonderful blog hop, welcome! If you didn't, you might want to <a href="http://serendipitousstitching.blogspot.com/2018/03/easter-treasure-hunt-blog-hop-2018.html">visit Jo</a> to see what's going on.<br />
<br />
So what's an Easter blog hop without a hopping bunny, I ask you??<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgov0EcPdw-Zlc3-BVuDDBaMpzZDWGoiQaLozzluybyguyUFsM1_XVDaPtY_gmginS2kDJFS4c2x3S_3mEfxiXwJDqJUx5WStSA6P5BKGA4gL-2WStfEwpZMOmRchdi1gAsWYvThNf4P1M/s1600/DSC05846.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgov0EcPdw-Zlc3-BVuDDBaMpzZDWGoiQaLozzluybyguyUFsM1_XVDaPtY_gmginS2kDJFS4c2x3S_3mEfxiXwJDqJUx5WStSA6P5BKGA4gL-2WStfEwpZMOmRchdi1gAsWYvThNf4P1M/s400/DSC05846.JPG" width="400" height="302" data-original-width="640" data-original-height="483" /></a></div>This little bunny is hopping past some of my Spring-y temari. The two in the back are from Japan and feature cherry blossoms (sakura), a sure sign of Spring!<br />
<br />
Since March is almost over, the SCOD decided to masquerade as an Easter basket.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFBUa7sEfWpLQzmA3gV1Xh7Ne90AWCM2fRUoS7dFx3NRg5FXrh28XGwGCEDdDzr-uVIyM5Lsa7HL0aluQno7a5HXSdkaCCv68TNYLgUX98R9nmVaemaBXk2rTldHknXvcJPDittnnDaqQ/s1600/DSC05853.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFBUa7sEfWpLQzmA3gV1Xh7Ne90AWCM2fRUoS7dFx3NRg5FXrh28XGwGCEDdDzr-uVIyM5Lsa7HL0aluQno7a5HXSdkaCCv68TNYLgUX98R9nmVaemaBXk2rTldHknXvcJPDittnnDaqQ/s400/DSC05853.JPG" width="400" height="331" data-original-width="640" data-original-height="530" /></a></div>Hmmm, I'm not sure it's fooling anyone! <br />
<br />
The bunny is designed by Just Nan, and her fluffy tail is pink because she just finished hopping through a strawberry patch. But wait, it looks like she's found something else while hopping amongst my temari...<br />

<tr><td>Welcome, welcome! If you're new here, you may be wondering what a "SCOD" is! That stands for "Sparkly Compote of Decree", and every day in March I draw a slip of paper from it, and that tells me which of my WIPs I will work on that day. That's right, a different WIP each day in March! You can visit some of my earlier posts this month to see what I've been working on so far, or come back early next week to see the thrilling conclusion of "March Madness"!</td></tr>

I'm not sure if you can see it well in this shot, but some of the orchids are displayed on 3D wireform shapes. Then, throughout both orchid houses (regular and high elevation), there are signs of the same shape (triangle, octagon, etc.) next to the orchids of the same family.<br />

<br />
When we last left March Madness, I was casting on with some laceweight yarn. That brought us up to March 14th, where the SCOD* went right back to its Moss Creek Designs kick and chose Blackwork Band Sampler (if you follow me <a href="https://www.instagram.com/lottloft/">on instagram</a>, you've already seen this one):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkeLH5oEnPou2H9vofgvbGCwEH0ZMxQmFO7fl4M6RwtNflkzgHyROsAM8wL-AjlRC5NsxlYERy3YjlGkBCgKSCjkGbbjPx82A1Ga2YL4myvIkSYqHXLtpvgSq70Bt_MjK46TwivXjP034/s1600/DSC05819.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkeLH5oEnPou2H9vofgvbGCwEH0ZMxQmFO7fl4M6RwtNflkzgHyROsAM8wL-AjlRC5NsxlYERy3YjlGkBCgKSCjkGbbjPx82A1Ga2YL4myvIkSYqHXLtpvgSq70Bt_MjK46TwivXjP034/s400/DSC05819.JPG" width="400" height="381" data-original-width="600" data-original-height="572" /></a></div>This was a class piece; the cutwork section was done in class, so I've been working on the blackwork bands and the borders.<br />
<br />
March 15th we went to see "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder" at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. It was a really entertaining musical (if a little dark). Eight roles were played by one actor, and he was amazing! I went straight to the theater from work, and to bed soon after that, so I didn't stitch at all that day. I was going to try, but the project I pulled out of the SCOD turned out to be missing its tacks!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmT9yn1-vEv9PcSpBtEOcrBbu3RwI9isPrOCWTSbN5i8OmOTqnDMqekLrPApav6vgAO7RDeDWF0gEcrt3NVciyJauzxcakPRq2y_AxxXaEXn75QwwUgL8igORTI3DDsvvKsRgKHS6l1io/s1600/DSC05824.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmT9yn1-vEv9PcSpBtEOcrBbu3RwI9isPrOCWTSbN5i8OmOTqnDMqekLrPApav6vgAO7RDeDWF0gEcrt3NVciyJauzxcakPRq2y_AxxXaEXn75QwwUgL8igORTI3DDsvvKsRgKHS6l1io/s400/DSC05824.JPG" width="400" height="359" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="718" /></a></div>I gave up. Zzzzzz...<br />
<br />
Now if you'd REALLY been paying attention to the picture of the SCOD in my <a href="http://lottloft.blogspot.com/2018/03/march-madness-continues.html">last March Madness post</a>, you might have seen that slip of paper off to the side that struck terror in my heart...Les Rubans Anciennes! (dun dun DUN!!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdsdywB_JgqfFMy6LKsrV55ICVztZ6lDnVME0qe6CeKuqEnVvmtaqsnw1lvbgsumuQsUWIZ_ByA_7zcGXw6MwyPn6m84FBFcKkOO-ANfY2AgXxrp3pha3pA0F4CVUTlcsXfKcZdMZh9jA/s1600/DSC05822.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdsdywB_JgqfFMy6LKsrV55ICVztZ6lDnVME0qe6CeKuqEnVvmtaqsnw1lvbgsumuQsUWIZ_ByA_7zcGXw6MwyPn6m84FBFcKkOO-ANfY2AgXxrp3pha3pA0F4CVUTlcsXfKcZdMZh9jA/s400/DSC05822.JPG" width="400" height="314" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="627" /></a></div>I saved this one for a Friday! This is a four-day class with Tony Minieri; you can see a picture of it on <a href="http://www.tonyminieri.com/4-day-project-classes/">his webpage</a>, but not in the colorway I am doing. (Side note: Oh my goodness, I want to do the one with the peacock on it!!) Here is a closeup of the section I worked on...<br />

Sunday the SCOD found my missing tacks...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwEMx4m5mCby73Kuy0H26X4-2wl-bIjYwcNQaAw9EyuuGAavyEwUEBm0wPN2HPn47treAfKHe1x1JfmyPDPeC4qHUQh03eU5v8uF59gRZiOt-MITw8-oJqwE9Bni6WOU4VHuAQyHJAf10/s1600/DSC05825.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwEMx4m5mCby73Kuy0H26X4-2wl-bIjYwcNQaAw9EyuuGAavyEwUEBm0wPN2HPn47treAfKHe1x1JfmyPDPeC4qHUQh03eU5v8uF59gRZiOt-MITw8-oJqwE9Bni6WOU4VHuAQyHJAf10/s400/DSC05825.JPG" width="272" height="400" data-original-width="544" data-original-height="800" /></a></div>In actuality, I think the tacks I stole from poor Santa up there are in a different project. But the SCOD was certainly feeling "projects mounted on frames". When I started this stumpwork class, I could not find any "real" stretcher bars, so I bought some artist's canvas stretcher bars. Eh, they seem to be working OK! I kind of dreaded working on this piece, too, but it turned out I had more done than I thought. Here's a closeup, with some 4" embroidery scissors for scale:<br />

This brings us up to Monday (the 19th), where I was determined to overcome my March Monday slump, even though the project was the (HUGE) Peacock Tapestry.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizHRTHPe6ryeHBvOk7lLRjpICVww0Idp_NEqAhVd-sntdYGGkND3uzV5TmTf8y9PIu8Qofe-lthhN0DjMKRCsGEWI7QrRy2jpOe3nRRs8HwHgsLBhpwC_u1JrG6Uf5A_Sc8eEfemmaCkY/s1600/DSC05828.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizHRTHPe6ryeHBvOk7lLRjpICVww0Idp_NEqAhVd-sntdYGGkND3uzV5TmTf8y9PIu8Qofe-lthhN0DjMKRCsGEWI7QrRy2jpOe3nRRs8HwHgsLBhpwC_u1JrG6Uf5A_Sc8eEfemmaCkY/s400/DSC05828.JPG" width="400" height="333" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="666" /></a></div>Wouldn't it be nice if I got that all done in one night? (I...did not).<br />
<br />
What kind of Springy projects are in store for me in the coming week?? Only the SCOD knows....<br />

What is Gifted Gorgeousness, you may ask? It's the brainchild of the lovely and talented <a href="http://serendipitousstitching.blogspot.com/">Jo at Serendipitous Stitching</a>, who invites us to celebrate gifts we've been given that we are stitching on (or gifts we're stitching for others). If you're up for seeing more eye candy, click on the graphic above and visit Jo's link up post!<br />
<br />
This is my birthday edition of gifted gorgeousness, so it's going to be a little on the gifted to ME side. If you haven't visited me before, I'm currently indulging in my version of March Madness, which means that I stitch a different project every day, as dictated (or "heavily suggested") by a slip of paper I draw from the Sparkly Compote of Decree. One of those projects was a gift from a friend for my birthday *ahem* several years ago...Shakespeare's Flowers:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiplP2TTPgwv1tBphjSKMP_lVP17oMpBYH2-EQopZFXFjgaK_7TaexynjxX5R3T2J5ei2EdLVEB8rzjbmB-2PJ8nmVCVt-BuyOxyGzNfxfmeiWA_nNFacKsUD5qn5isEfv7Y4BL_DLpNzE/s1600/March8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiplP2TTPgwv1tBphjSKMP_lVP17oMpBYH2-EQopZFXFjgaK_7TaexynjxX5R3T2J5ei2EdLVEB8rzjbmB-2PJ8nmVCVt-BuyOxyGzNfxfmeiWA_nNFacKsUD5qn5isEfv7Y4BL_DLpNzE/s400/March8.jpg" width="295" height="400" data-original-width="443" data-original-height="600" /></a></div><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVHzNTbQRHHEcZ4w2IQRzEzNh7TVxvu1JMLpXdMG-zBTL3BWO5MNjwXMYva06chuXfiNfLxp1qMOWhP7n44WHZow_OqLZfy_Mai_pAo0aod4ca34bAVn841BRY0W1MVCWIdIh3heB_GQk/s1600/soxsox.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVHzNTbQRHHEcZ4w2IQRzEzNh7TVxvu1JMLpXdMG-zBTL3BWO5MNjwXMYva06chuXfiNfLxp1qMOWhP7n44WHZow_OqLZfy_Mai_pAo0aod4ca34bAVn841BRY0W1MVCWIdIh3heB_GQk/s400/soxsox.jpg" width="400" height="262" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="524" /></a></div>These socks had always been on my "someday" list...in fact, a lot of her socks kits are on my someday list...but then <a href="http://knittyblog.com/2015/06/in-memory-lisa-grossman-the-tsock-tsarina/">the designer passed away</a>, and I thought that I had missed my chance. She really was a truly gifted designer, and her designs would come with pages and pages of design notes and inspirations. <br />
<br />
I also signed up for <a href="https://ysolda.com/">Ysolda Teague</a>'s yarn club, which I regretted not signing up for for the past two years! Hooray for birthday money!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTrOVnye165R_O_y9sTizTZ72Bo_oANPworWpahfsrngysTBB6_x2yauvP3dj1LOzXnsJKuy_dBg1SSQy15kwvBsm-FY_yk0p1_ctTo-AKnG6znes7AspbfwudvoT7mtF2o8lj3SmNkTc/s1600/ysoldayarn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTrOVnye165R_O_y9sTizTZ72Bo_oANPworWpahfsrngysTBB6_x2yauvP3dj1LOzXnsJKuy_dBg1SSQy15kwvBsm-FY_yk0p1_ctTo-AKnG6znes7AspbfwudvoT7mtF2o8lj3SmNkTc/s400/ysoldayarn.jpg" width="257" height="400" data-original-width="514" data-original-height="800" /></a></div><br />
I'm looking forward to playing with this yarn as soon as I'm done with my assignments for Loopy Academy! <br />

<br />
When last we left March Madness, I had been to see some lovely tulips (pictures coming, really!) and was about to settle down to stitch. You would think that Daylight Saving Time would mean that I would have extra stitching time in the evening, or at least that I'd be able to get a picture of my stitching with good lighting. But alas, Saturday night and Sunday were rainy, so please excuse this shot of She Maketh Fine Linen, which is a series of smalls by Moss Creek Designs:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk9U9Ana-q4TN49ilcQMxB-RWNCQ2k41owy6IZg65n-5-JGdvjAdbQY-8pudM5bRPeIkOAJcz_OG-CEGXJ7CXfqYTKUjWSGnxarLgtJRBGffpc7_6qo-FFOunt4Tww_UGJwiM6SPZ-g_w/s1600/March10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk9U9Ana-q4TN49ilcQMxB-RWNCQ2k41owy6IZg65n-5-JGdvjAdbQY-8pudM5bRPeIkOAJcz_OG-CEGXJ7CXfqYTKUjWSGnxarLgtJRBGffpc7_6qo-FFOunt4Tww_UGJwiM6SPZ-g_w/s400/March10.jpg" width="400" height="184" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="368" /></a></div><br />
Strangely, the Sparkly Compote of Decree chose another Moss Creek Design the next day, Spring Garden Gate:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv6XGi5PQDEoyTOetjwQ1KIZvEXf1oxjD6ZiRT95j-pmVTsaMNllROMBItmChfACSVcxay-TI61axqGcfePfEwRr8MvQsCD3VUJeFUDqjwOGafhoK8bOeRWXIoydCbE_z9DwGJURlrCE8/s1600/March11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv6XGi5PQDEoyTOetjwQ1KIZvEXf1oxjD6ZiRT95j-pmVTsaMNllROMBItmChfACSVcxay-TI61axqGcfePfEwRr8MvQsCD3VUJeFUDqjwOGafhoK8bOeRWXIoydCbE_z9DwGJURlrCE8/s400/March11.jpg" width="400" height="316" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="632" /></a></div>I'm feeling like this should stay in rotation after March Madness. And after I finish Loopy Academy Senior Year.<br />
<br />
Speaking of which, after a Monday where I was too exhausted to stitch (Mondays are definitely not good for March Madness), the SCOD gave me a magic blank slip! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVDgCO0GunvbQ8tfl8ynaJzz1FSIBBTYbgCRJoxTYDs_k6VheEyQFaJsZ80Dk5YmLbfs_nmRfri4yAoraSxAC9Lc88ChDikbaMiux0w3DiNVmeA-bkweN4HkpOP3SKCNQUIt0JDkNnrao/s1600/March13s.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVDgCO0GunvbQ8tfl8ynaJzz1FSIBBTYbgCRJoxTYDs_k6VheEyQFaJsZ80Dk5YmLbfs_nmRfri4yAoraSxAC9Lc88ChDikbaMiux0w3DiNVmeA-bkweN4HkpOP3SKCNQUIt0JDkNnrao/s400/March13s.jpg" width="400" height="299" data-original-width="600" data-original-height="449" /></a></div>This means I can pick whatever I want to stitch! In an uncharacteristic move, I decided to be responsible and start my third project for Loopy Academy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZFrEJF47zMEQleAduV9fL4RWnnNMdFDxUWlBkYaSI96uHO61HPDe4H3zCtf60Afyn81wyFWvzJ44turcug4nwtftIjyQpU1tI4B16sG1AchA3lU4I3VSOgG39f9F5wZ-r1m7r6p8e1uk/s1600/March13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZFrEJF47zMEQleAduV9fL4RWnnNMdFDxUWlBkYaSI96uHO61HPDe4H3zCtf60Afyn81wyFWvzJ44turcug4nwtftIjyQpU1tI4B16sG1AchA3lU4I3VSOgG39f9F5wZ-r1m7r6p8e1uk/s400/March13.jpg" width="400" height="229" data-original-width="500" data-original-height="286" /></a></div>Behold, my stunning progress! I spent most of the time doing the gauge swatch with this laceweight yarn, so I only managed to cast on and do a couple rows. Plus, I need to find some beads for this shawl, but I kinda thought it would be longer than 48 stitches in before I needed them.<br />
<br />

<tr><td>Three more March Madness projects! <br />
<br />
And for those of you who read to the end and are paying VERY close attention, you might notice a slip of paper off to the side in that shot of the SCOD...I might have drawn that one first and freaked out when I saw it...but I'm going to tackle it on Friday...maybe....</td></tr>

<br />
<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time">Daylight Saving Time</a> began this morning, and just to prove that that lost hour of sleep hasn't totally destroyed the weekend (and that it's sooo worth the extra sunlight in the evening), I'm going to do something I haven't managed to do for months...WRITE A BLOG POST!!<br />
<br />
You don't want to hear the knitty-gritty of why I've been missing for months...a (not) thrilling pastiche of being out of town, home demolition/reconstruction, video games, and work woes (so what's new?). No, you are here for pictures of needlework! And possibly fun things I've been doing! Well, today you're ONLY going to get needlework pictures, but buckle up, because I promise that will be enough.<br />
<br />
One of the trips was to take a class with my EGA chapter. I joined the duClay chapter in Florida a few years ago, but I've only been down once to a retreat. There was finally a class that fit with my schedule, so I booked a plane ticket! Since my birthday was the day after I would have flown back, I managed to finagle a birthday trip to Disney World out of it (my argument to Michael was that I would be more than halfway to Disney anyway, so he drove down to Jacksonville and picked me up after class!) <br />
<br />
So, my first finish of 2018 was my chapter nametag, which should have been finished eons ago.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh55NdpuGU-OuLOwWfxD_auqKHerneBIEbTkZt5buafC7pGmPPg4tKaPi0G_DfroYgDEEVlBih85iwqsgX2Sao47W2pSU0-7QNabKhMNdOpS1KkV4bLKc-K0jbwMfJukRHqDybeGBh0nQc/s1600/DSC04617.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh55NdpuGU-OuLOwWfxD_auqKHerneBIEbTkZt5buafC7pGmPPg4tKaPi0G_DfroYgDEEVlBih85iwqsgX2Sao47W2pSU0-7QNabKhMNdOpS1KkV4bLKc-K0jbwMfJukRHqDybeGBh0nQc/s400/DSC04617.jpg" width="400" height="269" data-original-width="600" data-original-height="403" /></a></div>I finished it as a mini-flatfold, a technique I made up after reading the (most excellent) <a href="http://tts-learntofinish.blogspot.com/2011/01/flatfold.html">tutorial written by Vonna</a> on how to make a proper flatfold. However, I thought a proper flatfold would be too bulky for something so small that I also wanted to wear around my neck, so I figured out how to do it with just two pieces of mat board. If anyone is interested, I can share what I did.<br />
<br />
I stayed with my DF Teresa, who is an amazing hostess. The class was great! Here I'll show you our prestitching (the thread keep) partially assembled (as we learned to do in class):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBhKszqXfcuOELPm3qa6sXeR_1Iid6VFhTXK1Wg25d_HNdclelF6O4KZPtoJqtraCYPIbJPqF4c34bH3enpX1Uvjlr5v9JQRgqu6Bb4Huh1Mjni5GewOpkXvJ_aXwtjr5p8IpqHNvn-o4/s1600/March1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBhKszqXfcuOELPm3qa6sXeR_1Iid6VFhTXK1Wg25d_HNdclelF6O4KZPtoJqtraCYPIbJPqF4c34bH3enpX1Uvjlr5v9JQRgqu6Bb4Huh1Mjni5GewOpkXvJ_aXwtjr5p8IpqHNvn-o4/s400/March1.jpg" width="400" height="317" data-original-width="400" data-original-height="317" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3lLHM3qVZj5H5reGgeSfpWBrICd3M71yo_eVpX281fsavpq59NojZPr_IHQLUL3sug26uvcjWyn60M1szfUUIob8-5ZCsu5yi9vXcDd8OWv6nCNo40TuPH-tPy6NnDYNbW1-KP6HLoWk/s1600/March1b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3lLHM3qVZj5H5reGgeSfpWBrICd3M71yo_eVpX281fsavpq59NojZPr_IHQLUL3sug26uvcjWyn60M1szfUUIob8-5ZCsu5yi9vXcDd8OWv6nCNo40TuPH-tPy6NnDYNbW1-KP6HLoWk/s400/March1b.jpg" width="400" height="314" data-original-width="500" data-original-height="393" /></a></div>It was very interesting to finish; the eyelets were made by first enlarging the hole in the linen with an awl so that it would be big enough to put some thread strands though and tie in a half-hitch. <br />
<br />
I'd share more pictures, but the <a href="http://duclayega.blogspot.com/2018/03/betsy-morgan-classes.html">ones on duClay's blog</a> are much better, so please visit there! The blog is maintained by <a href="http://jackiecastson.blogspot.com/">Jackie</a>, who does lovely stitching and knitting. And she is the one to thank for the rest of this post! A couple people asked if I had stopped blogging, and I was saying that I needed to get back to it, but I had just missed the <a href="http://lottloft.blogspot.com/search/label/lottlympiad">Olympics</a> when Jackie said, "Well, you HAVE to do March Madness!" Holy Shamoley, I had completely forgotten about March Madness<a href="#jiffmwtoty">*</a>!!! <br />
<br />
At first I thought I was going to have to miss it this year, since I wasn't going to get home until March 4th. But then I realized...with the class piece, the "emergency" stitching project I brought just in case there was a free moment somewhere, and the two knitting projects I had started for Loopy Academy Senior Year and had along...this just might work! <br />
<br />
So, on March 1st, after stumbling home from a great day at Hollywood Studios, I pulled out my class piece and did a little more work joining the two sides of the thread keep together.<br />
<br />
The next day, following a day at the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival and a night waiting in line for Flight of Passage in Pandora at Animal Kingdom, I pulled out the "emergency stitching project", which is a hardanger piece. Please enjoy this very blurry picture of it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzuVTvaNZHI_U8dY_srDV8RYfsgkn1Y_yQZsUKY4XTKeOXgZ63Y-X-6AOnLK9EVNvWkh_6GFyZ-ax5wgfqd1pATTZeTZtRCgl7rQEIz4y1Y3yYYgYrj1DCHF93dnNJEN7i5gRGzeO6wPA/s1600/March2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzuVTvaNZHI_U8dY_srDV8RYfsgkn1Y_yQZsUKY4XTKeOXgZ63Y-X-6AOnLK9EVNvWkh_6GFyZ-ax5wgfqd1pATTZeTZtRCgl7rQEIz4y1Y3yYYgYrj1DCHF93dnNJEN7i5gRGzeO6wPA/s400/March2.jpg" width="400" height="239" data-original-width="600" data-original-height="358" /></a></div><br />
March 3rd saw us on a special safari at Animal Kingdom, followed by a night viewing the new fireworks show at Magic Kingdom. Every color in this brioche cowl was in that fireworks show, plus some!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtOeyBGneZEh4GQ10YrybYIgrdrONVKwYyTVzPJQWmsKLIdrGitVNOeB_cdcnQdssk4E32p3ta9etf7U1m3n2JaxbookzPfIr9iWzBTtWoeHgvXdiiNyREFtn-IdVZ0p04ygug-Dhcmhs/s1600/March3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtOeyBGneZEh4GQ10YrybYIgrdrONVKwYyTVzPJQWmsKLIdrGitVNOeB_cdcnQdssk4E32p3ta9etf7U1m3n2JaxbookzPfIr9iWzBTtWoeHgvXdiiNyREFtn-IdVZ0p04ygug-Dhcmhs/s400/March3.JPG" width="400" height="265" data-original-width="600" data-original-height="398" /></a></div><br />
March 4th we had to head home, so I got some good knitting time in the car on a cotton vest.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAvYJJDvTXsq44I3xEJ8tx8YT-MsZ9BWKZ36IgrbeN_ADoylhkVBuWGcFHPZE6SXsFuqKfrv6q2m04RkhRgfkdt8bgZLHQwgVPOb5V_SRTT3NUAtixxLgNR_GtvyqWhz8aBaYWTDdMrfs/s1600/March4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAvYJJDvTXsq44I3xEJ8tx8YT-MsZ9BWKZ36IgrbeN_ADoylhkVBuWGcFHPZE6SXsFuqKfrv6q2m04RkhRgfkdt8bgZLHQwgVPOb5V_SRTT3NUAtixxLgNR_GtvyqWhz8aBaYWTDdMrfs/s400/March4.JPG" width="400" height="265" data-original-width="600" data-original-height="398" /></a></div>Unfortunately, I have since had to unravel the whole thing and start over, since I gave up on my knitterly denial and realized it was going to come out big enough for Michael instead of me. I'm thinking he wouldn't really want to wear a hot pink mesh vest....<br />
<br />
We got home at about 10:30 pm and had to go to work the next day, so I was too exhausted on March 5th to do anything at all. Well, that, and the Sparkly Compote of Decree was being difficult. You see, I knew in advance that due to the upheaval of construction, I wouldn't be able to get to (i.e., "find") all of my WIPs. So, I was just going to draw until I got a project I could actually find. Here's how many draws that took:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggPOBYhfTYCPuyOe2EcsmwkcTGzhddMNfB4FwcEF4U3t06XoA5r8YU333aCBfms3SQoIPIBvdEtjOW-wDq8-a-BZxy6s6M2RWnpfGRacschDSvieELjnl_NqMfEtUCuUle_dRMuQpq0RU/s1600/scod.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggPOBYhfTYCPuyOe2EcsmwkcTGzhddMNfB4FwcEF4U3t06XoA5r8YU333aCBfms3SQoIPIBvdEtjOW-wDq8-a-BZxy6s6M2RWnpfGRacschDSvieELjnl_NqMfEtUCuUle_dRMuQpq0RU/s400/scod.jpg" width="400" height="327" data-original-width="500" data-original-height="409" /></a></div>*sigh*<br />
After many trips up and down (and up and down) a few sets of stairs, I found one! Castles by the Sea, by Teresa Wentzler (a class piece from a long ago retreat!) The picture on the right is what it will look like when it's finished, although I am making up my own verse. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgc-56pdegFf_uuDK-vSHpEqNloLt-bAzQ0Yb0ANrdN8lhI54g1Nd2d7TVtBpS0cHnoTcsFJezrEMwZZ3umoH1KHlfnLOU7zK7WwApPjaxb6poevbv6NK8Y3phoZTKC7IzXJsTgPKxZ0D0/s1600/March6e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgc-56pdegFf_uuDK-vSHpEqNloLt-bAzQ0Yb0ANrdN8lhI54g1Nd2d7TVtBpS0cHnoTcsFJezrEMwZZ3umoH1KHlfnLOU7zK7WwApPjaxb6poevbv6NK8Y3phoZTKC7IzXJsTgPKxZ0D0/s400/March6e.jpg" width="400" height="245" data-original-width="800" data-original-height="489" /></a></div><br />
March 7th found me stitching on Convents Herbal Garden by Chatelaine (or, as it was known when I started it, "Mystery 2"!):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5qofmjngWDdKzPBUNAcodMcg8Yhk5bzenrH8Qec2_gdn_MgP2YR_WAeXxoLriNv1tCPmB4oG_r1MNN3u6PpnsLAPgy3Act9TAS9livUwxqFmZ7CHszrHO0IpMGoOw2F5cl1w-GxKOIG8/s1600/March7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5qofmjngWDdKzPBUNAcodMcg8Yhk5bzenrH8Qec2_gdn_MgP2YR_WAeXxoLriNv1tCPmB4oG_r1MNN3u6PpnsLAPgy3Act9TAS9livUwxqFmZ7CHszrHO0IpMGoOw2F5cl1w-GxKOIG8/s400/March7.jpg" width="395" height="400" data-original-width="600" data-original-height="608" /></a></div><br />
When I found the piece for March 8th, which was Shakespeare's Garden...<br />

So instead of drawing for the 9th, I stitched that one. This is another Teresa Wentzler piece from a retreat, called "Sewing Seeds of Love". You can see a small picture of the finished piece <a href="http://www.twdesignworks.com/TWDW/sewingseeds_l.html">on her site</a> (I gave away the charts for the other two designers' pieces at some point). <br />

That almost brings me up to today! Yesterday (Saturday), we went to the Botanical Garden to see the thousands of tulips and orchids that are in bloom right now, and I couldn't face downloading all of those pictures.... So, you'll have to wait to see what I stitched on yesterday. Who knows, my instagram feed might get some madness showing up, too. Stay tuned for more March Madness! And let me know if you join in with me!<br />

*For those of you not familiar with March Madness...in the United States, college basketball playoffs begin in March, and there are so many crazy games, they coined the term "March Madness". Back when I used to run <a href="http://lottloft.blogspot.com/p/theme-licious-2014.html">Theme-a-licious</a>...and actually every March since...I would do my own "mad" stitching March by picking a different project every day! Nowadays the project I stitch on each day is "chosen" by the Sparkly Compote of Decree. </td></tr>

I finally had enough daylight and patience to finish sewing up a felt pear I started quite a while ago. <br />

What is Theme-Tas-Stitch, you ask? Kerry hosts a theme every month that you can build your stitching plans around. Click on the picture above for more details!<br />
<br />
I'm woefully late to check in for August, so this will be a very short update. Last month's theme was..."Animalia August - Give some love to those projects with our furry or feathered friends."<br />
<br />
Of course, you know I had to stitch on at least one project with a squirrel, so I chose a Rovaris sampler that is nothing but squirrels, alphabets and acorns.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXBEOqI0nGvyKVUb0MsGF3QaFAZ7ggvFhBmF69zsuwROByOzVasp-yPfDnxbBOfO2RNyUw60p2rs9hcfR3dfDPxgq0Ow0419exQH0-qd0lnTZj4VngmgkG-QEWmrCCicojLoRTJxltTiw/s1600/DSC03149.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXBEOqI0nGvyKVUb0MsGF3QaFAZ7ggvFhBmF69zsuwROByOzVasp-yPfDnxbBOfO2RNyUw60p2rs9hcfR3dfDPxgq0Ow0419exQH0-qd0lnTZj4VngmgkG-QEWmrCCicojLoRTJxltTiw/s400/DSC03149.JPG" width="400" height="227" data-original-width="480" data-original-height="272" /></a></div>Or, so far, squirrel and alphabet.<br />
<br />
I made another small bit of progress on Just Nan's Strawberry Bunny, until I got tired of tedious counting and color changes. :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcG1Uxqhjax9la5GjTF0hBnt_KYigSWWUWVWd_OXMZwUKb-ZI08MmBl2r6Ii2rdDJVqNxZhFn7lD03bp9y6zVleBP2BXApTiT2rLutVuzS3qazjpkJ1dJvXG2fbksPBfgqrCLrJELo-z0/s1600/DSC03153.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcG1Uxqhjax9la5GjTF0hBnt_KYigSWWUWVWd_OXMZwUKb-ZI08MmBl2r6Ii2rdDJVqNxZhFn7lD03bp9y6zVleBP2BXApTiT2rLutVuzS3qazjpkJ1dJvXG2fbksPBfgqrCLrJELo-z0/s400/DSC03153.JPG" width="267" height="400" data-original-width="320" data-original-height="480" /></a></div><br />
I made the largest amount of progress on Prancer.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgroiEurZngBd0wBHMJ5vFmNINNT0Ww7QpUcq5USfpqMjXIwGI52ugMAZwnY80O6iGh99h8Z_hPBuwIFqEtd4w6wzPYNMO7TuqcRexCCZGeTn-MGp5lelhbUXkyi4CBdQZ-UwwvoMlGbvc/s1600/DSC03151.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgroiEurZngBd0wBHMJ5vFmNINNT0Ww7QpUcq5USfpqMjXIwGI52ugMAZwnY80O6iGh99h8Z_hPBuwIFqEtd4w6wzPYNMO7TuqcRexCCZGeTn-MGp5lelhbUXkyi4CBdQZ-UwwvoMlGbvc/s400/DSC03151.JPG" width="361" height="400" data-original-width="433" data-original-height="480" /></a></div>In fact, he just needs antlers and a wee bit of backstitch before there's nothing but beads left!<br />
<br />
Finally, a shawl I started with some mystery Noro yarn I bought in Japan. It has some wool content, which comes from sheep, which are totally animals, so it totally counts:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxkpC0u9ReeGmbTxgbOw0wXOnuJnop4cgL0rWosDcEgh3ZoXeZwPDCTjNLfSjeMI4-M28oy4xAcyYY-UrX7TFvhz67ieHUGrY3RYy5Vt-eV87odd-iyOOdU7YJCZe4VwSiIZAmwENFCeI/s1600/DSC03159.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxkpC0u9ReeGmbTxgbOw0wXOnuJnop4cgL0rWosDcEgh3ZoXeZwPDCTjNLfSjeMI4-M28oy4xAcyYY-UrX7TFvhz67ieHUGrY3RYy5Vt-eV87odd-iyOOdU7YJCZe4VwSiIZAmwENFCeI/s400/DSC03159.JPG" width="400" height="225" data-original-width="480" data-original-height="270" /></a></div>As far as I can tell with my detective skills (because the yarn label has zero English on it), this yarn is called "Ayame", and is composed of silk, wool, cotton and rayon. It has the usual long-repeat Noro color changes, but that yarn is twisted together with a turquoise strand and a very thin black strand. It was kind of challenging to find a pattern for it, because I really don't know what weight it is! Based on the recommended needle sizes (once I realized Japan's needle sizes were different than US), I'd say it's a heavy fingering, but I guess it could be considered a sport....<br />
<br />
That's it for August! September's theme is "September Smalls - What is the smallest stitch in your stash? Show us your smalls!" I have a ton of smalls in progress, so I am sure I will make "small" progress on some of them. ;)geeky Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311984338621692746noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4037646455011773371.post-92008991962262494772017-07-26T20:38:00.000-05:002017-07-26T20:38:02.298-05:00Theme-Tas-Stitch Just One July<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://ramblingsofabiscornuaddict.blogspot.com/2017/07/theme-tas-stitch-just-one-july-link-up.html"><img alt="Theme-tas-stitch" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivgeWaI3w7A7MpvAM93a3pwqSbooFGcdP-d8FgMpcK8cVBAo21qCM4lNM1aj4Q5XKEAq_qhaeLhKh2An6JC9PFw5CD-WkYlprbj0l0sHt8r1klseQhqqp98DhJlGlOnNiG0akxOxYa09Y/s320/Artboard+1.jpg" /></a></div><br />

<br />
This month's theme was..."Just one July - Pick a focus piece for the month and see how much progress you can make - show us before and after pictures if you can."<br />
<br />
You don't have to wander around my blog for very long to know that I am most definitely NOT a one-at-a-time stitcher. I'll pick something up and then get distracted, or have a deadline, and switch pieces faster than a strand of blending filament tangles. But as I mentioned in my last post, I was gone for a good chunk of June (and yes, you will get some pictures at some point!), so I was actually a little fatigued and didn't have the energy to pull out any new pieces. Since Prancer was already on the Q-snaps, I stitched on him all month! I had stitched on him a little at the end of June, and I was planning on checking in for last month's theme (gardens), so I only stitched on his greenery. Here's where he was at the end of the month:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZc5QJ9a25lAyMK_whC2XbmH1fHIgfwBejyT_uxk9t_UGOOdpC0rf44WQMrdbQJXFBvUMQTUKubgXnbd2neD3sxnCYyGdPvwvLUhyphenhyphenuQxrSKE2jc-6iEv0g8oc1kjfgOCCh-brE5abZ1QA/s1600/DSC03012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZc5QJ9a25lAyMK_whC2XbmH1fHIgfwBejyT_uxk9t_UGOOdpC0rf44WQMrdbQJXFBvUMQTUKubgXnbd2neD3sxnCYyGdPvwvLUhyphenhyphenuQxrSKE2jc-6iEv0g8oc1kjfgOCCh-brE5abZ1QA/s400/DSC03012.JPG" width="393" height="400" data-original-width="472" data-original-height="480" /></a></div>You can see, like previous progress pictures, there was #stillNoDeer<br />
<br />
But here is how he looks now!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjknNQh-hpvc9pSfOyuRMC71o-1fPTgJS3W-g10YJGYsWXShdsoBNaqf92t9Cbqsuid8N4cHBVSSCPn-i-EQjCKxcjZDOy0TjuH43-g6FyE2W_NWBW_KXqJNFjC1qMgJH06pKNRpRHH1Bg/s1600/DSC03020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjknNQh-hpvc9pSfOyuRMC71o-1fPTgJS3W-g10YJGYsWXShdsoBNaqf92t9Cbqsuid8N4cHBVSSCPn-i-EQjCKxcjZDOy0TjuH43-g6FyE2W_NWBW_KXqJNFjC1qMgJH06pKNRpRHH1Bg/s400/DSC03020.JPG" width="309" height="400" data-original-width="371" data-original-height="480" /></a></div><br />
Hunh. It turns out that if you focus on one thing, you actually make visible progress! Who knew?? <br />
<br />
Next month's theme is "Animalia August - Give some love to those projects with our furry or feathered friends."<br />
<br />

<br />
Why did I have so little time this month, you may ask? Well, I spent two weeks in Shanghai and and Tokyo! And let me tell you, jet lag is REAL. I'll just show you one thing for now...I "rescued" this temari from an airport gift shop on the way out of Tokyo.<br />

<br />
If you have been around me for any length of time, you know that my favorite color is BLUE! I could have pulled out a million pieces to stitch with blue in them, but since May is the last month to get Loopy Academy pieces done, I didn't get to stitch on any of them! Fortunately, I did get my blue beaded scarf done!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1gGNAPakxU7YAevVfTnxHiOwPKysosnu2kJFmZG-pfCCEjb5C5rdFtoRww_Z4fqqP2Od8s5IBgmOrTIQ5Zaw0ItwOfa4yagrveeASal1LlmYVr9XNJtz4s08WgB2TdDOWW-_tO8ZrAGE/s1600/DSC09515.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1gGNAPakxU7YAevVfTnxHiOwPKysosnu2kJFmZG-pfCCEjb5C5rdFtoRww_Z4fqqP2Od8s5IBgmOrTIQ5Zaw0ItwOfa4yagrveeASal1LlmYVr9XNJtz4s08WgB2TdDOWW-_tO8ZrAGE/s400/DSC09515.JPG" width="400" height="314" data-original-width="640" data-original-height="502" /></a></div><br />
I was running out of time to get a photograph, so all you get is a terrible headless selfie. :) It really was a monochromatic month for me, since I had to work on this pretty much non-stop to get it done by the deadline.<br />
<br />
Next month's theme is "Jardin June - Venture outdoors and put some stitches in a piece that has a garden or floral theme."<br />
<br />
I have a bunch of garden-related pieces, so I'll have a ball with this one!<br />

What is Theme-Tas-Stitch, you ask? Kerry was inspired by the Theme-a-licious SAL I used to run and asked to continue the theme-ing tradition, and she's doing brilliantly! There's a theme every month that you can build your stitching plans around. Click on the picture above for more details!<br />
<br />
This month's theme is..."April Showers...What pieces do you have that contain water? - It might be rain, river, sea or lake - see how many stitches you can make!"<br />
<br />
It was an easy job for me to find WIPs that fit in this category. In fact, I didn't even get to stitch on all of them. But I did make good progress on one of them:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHR0lOFOVF5A-ASN3HFnnL2zwcbxvX4_TzKR_loBNxhgPruURH3Dda-TScdpxGhT3-MF_lmwS7W-xfz3q8c0WwSJqCO7AREfTKD37crB-q4TjWriH4tBP6DBJ4z0GT1wrcHyxiHhb_Eh0/s1600/DSC09452.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHR0lOFOVF5A-ASN3HFnnL2zwcbxvX4_TzKR_loBNxhgPruURH3Dda-TScdpxGhT3-MF_lmwS7W-xfz3q8c0WwSJqCO7AREfTKD37crB-q4TjWriH4tBP6DBJ4z0GT1wrcHyxiHhb_Eh0/s400/DSC09452.JPG" width="400" height="319" /></a></div>The reason there are words floating in the water is that this is going to (eventually) be an EGA nametag and that is the name of my chapter. In case you are Googling, yes, that is a chapter in Florida, and, yes, I live in Atlanta. A friend is a member of that chapter and a while ago they needed members to help build the chapter back up, so I joined. Now the chapter is doing great! I hope to one day actually travel down to a meeting. Maybe once this nametag is done. ;)<br />
<br />
My second "watery WIP" is Prancer.<br />
<br />
Now, WAIT, I hear you say. (Well, I don't <i>actually</i> hear you; that would be weird. But I have my copious and active imagination going for me.) WAIT, I hear you say, That WIP has a DEER in it, but no water.<br />
<br />
Ah...there's where you're wrong...on BOTH counts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQPG0I86P2uLnX76wb5Zp1DMZcPct58N2Guwzcl6_o55FHACwN4xmqCHtB41vXf_nEXQ0Y0LzpcJO2SU-Pj-W8FIsxYMmaDfwL6X2l6r6b7Bx8vdgr4KiTseH77A9Lev3VCc9zqIIv_0s/s1600/DSC09455.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQPG0I86P2uLnX76wb5Zp1DMZcPct58N2Guwzcl6_o55FHACwN4xmqCHtB41vXf_nEXQ0Y0LzpcJO2SU-Pj-W8FIsxYMmaDfwL6X2l6r6b7Bx8vdgr4KiTseH77A9Lev3VCc9zqIIv_0s/s400/DSC09455.JPG" width="388" height="400" /></a></div><br />
There is no deer in this WIP, but if there were, it would be standing on sparkly, sparkly ice, which, as we all know, is frozen WATER. #stillnodeer<br />
<br />
And now, here comes the shoehorn. <a href="https://tiffstitch.blogspot.com/">Tiffstitch</a> and I are doing a stitch-along on Nora Corbett's letter "H". The fabric that is called for is "WATERlilly", but I am stitching it on "Squall", which is also a fine, watery-sounding fabric.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXtoZ8YF339jI_9EgLz3itZucoybF7ckRtuPp-CrLD6t6yGQscGUPXuqeUbyTrUVRFUYvxkVZW_LQ0lX8YlsuSzfCGhaC6sG3U6SfPb0eNW9Gta3Fq9I4AZ0Ttdro9cEtzz4BkPPkUzis/s1600/DSC09453.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXtoZ8YF339jI_9EgLz3itZucoybF7ckRtuPp-CrLD6t6yGQscGUPXuqeUbyTrUVRFUYvxkVZW_LQ0lX8YlsuSzfCGhaC6sG3U6SfPb0eNW9Gta3Fq9I4AZ0Ttdro9cEtzz4BkPPkUzis/s400/DSC09453.JPG" width="400" height="355" /></a></div><br />
I am very, very slow, so I am not even done with my dress of a different color.<br />
<br />
Next month's theme is Monochrome May, where we are supposed to only stitch with one color all month, and if you have been around here for very long, you can probably guess what color I will choose: Blue!<br />
<br />
Well, I am, now, finally out of commas, so I will sign off for this month!<br />

<br />
As I'm posting this on Easter (a few days late as usual), the first gift I have to show you is very appropriate...a friend gave me these counting pins for my birthday:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXRueYlIc0ekA8pXwvoHnrXFjBVHOENGhVqgaNDeZvDSMBZQy9qHovmCMS4bULaSv33V9S85FOJ4o5wVuyTeMDCYchQMMtGiJ-tG2tsod-thAcW59msIVEVJKSlhtqSCC1cm7kfdyu0Zc/s1600/DSC09436.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXRueYlIc0ekA8pXwvoHnrXFjBVHOENGhVqgaNDeZvDSMBZQy9qHovmCMS4bULaSv33V9S85FOJ4o5wVuyTeMDCYchQMMtGiJ-tG2tsod-thAcW59msIVEVJKSlhtqSCC1cm7kfdyu0Zc/s400/DSC09436.JPG" width="268" height="400" /></a></div>Aren't they too cute? I used them to start Nora Corbet's letter "H", which I am stitching along with Tiffstitch on Wednesdays. Of course I completely forgot this past Wednesday, so I don't have any progress to show!<br />
<br />
Next were a couple of kits I bought with birthday money (and, *ahem*, maybe a little extra)...I just subscribed digitally to Inspirations magazine. In the very first issue I got, there was a bird by Nicola Jarvis. The last time I was in England (2014 I think), we visited the William Morris Gallery, and there was an exhibition of many of these stitched birds. I was over the moon for them, but they were out of most of the kits, so I didn't get a chance to bring one home. When I saw the bird from Strawberry Thief was in Inspirations, I had to get the kit.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaGmPUFlHMrJe31ZdvRkYBEM2QEqFp_t0mKvcebs94c_raglzbE5q9vZrIeiYwrVz31RVACQwaaQwUT9BnDq6kGPItrvo4mTfoP2ypqCgoC0_a6DO6X3dYxNDDf6UOWZvfsaocyUieeoY/s1600/DSC09439.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaGmPUFlHMrJe31ZdvRkYBEM2QEqFp_t0mKvcebs94c_raglzbE5q9vZrIeiYwrVz31RVACQwaaQwUT9BnDq6kGPItrvo4mTfoP2ypqCgoC0_a6DO6X3dYxNDDf6UOWZvfsaocyUieeoY/s400/DSC09439.JPG" width="400" height="241" /></a></div>I love how the needles are on a big page with every other possible needle size so you can see which is which (on the right). The fabric this is stitched on is very interesting; it's a heavy woven fabric with almost a plastic/rubber backing.<br />
<br />
Since I was ordering all the way from Australia, I had to order two kits to justify the shipping, right?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPaFM6yWVK8LmE07YSdPQ_TKWl_1Hh4WoFfEYL77Dr0YowCR6l1XH0h1iRgdLFWN-epV25QoKPhlPKE4_6RilqmX3YkMijtrEqCe6L_BgCCrMOJVaeDxzlj0hNcsrxLGXHtnheum3HVlA/s1600/DSC09440.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPaFM6yWVK8LmE07YSdPQ_TKWl_1Hh4WoFfEYL77Dr0YowCR6l1XH0h1iRgdLFWN-epV25QoKPhlPKE4_6RilqmX3YkMijtrEqCe6L_BgCCrMOJVaeDxzlj0hNcsrxLGXHtnheum3HVlA/s400/DSC09440.JPG" width="400" height="260" /></a></div>Actually, the shipping was not too bad. I considered kitting this one up myself, but the beads and crochet cotton were getting close to the cost of the kit, and I wasn't sure what kind of fabric they were talking about in the magazine directions. Of course, if I had kitted it, I would have bought full tubes of beads...but at this point I'm not unhappy at the prospect of not having leftover beads! This one will be a lot of fun, since there are many needlelace and darning patterns in it!<br />
<br />
Well, that's it for this month's Gifted Gorgeousness...tune in next month, when I might have actually <i>stitched</i> something that was gifted to me!!geeky Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311984338621692746noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4037646455011773371.post-28291685295673670512017-04-14T12:48:00.001-05:002017-04-14T12:53:42.824-05:00Easter Treasure Hunt Blog Hop 2017Hello beautiful people! It's Spring, it's Easter (well, Good Friday, anyway), so it's time for Jo's annual Easter Blog Hop!<br />
<br />
My mom made me some beautiful ceramics when I was little, and I love being able to put them out each year. I added a little bunny of my own to the display this year.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl3FSDpGf9KWbnQE3WzWU5fJLnmLSgyfCrz_v8EY5ZTAbVDBTGC-5v0Yqr_yNK2RWwBgTQNZvqZfeC5rtYtqMFAQBVbcLqytWgF9fyBE9I_XVxFVxgaqGhXhyphenhyphenflNFp_Suf3u5axFciFoQ/s1600/DSC09450.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl3FSDpGf9KWbnQE3WzWU5fJLnmLSgyfCrz_v8EY5ZTAbVDBTGC-5v0Yqr_yNK2RWwBgTQNZvqZfeC5rtYtqMFAQBVbcLqytWgF9fyBE9I_XVxFVxgaqGhXhyphenhyphenflNFp_Suf3u5axFciFoQ/s400/DSC09450.JPG" width="376" height="400" /></a></div><br />
This is a freebie bunny you can find <a href="http://palkolap.blogspot.hu/2013/02/521-husveti-nyul-ii-osternhase-ii.html">here</a>. There are two other Quaker pattern bunnies as well! I think my bunny needs some friends for next year. =) This bunny is stitched on perforated paper in DMC 335 for the outline and DMC 4120 for the pattern. I'm not sure what that thread color is named, but it should be named strawberry lemonade!!<br />
<br />
Now, I know why you're really here...you want your letter so you can complete the phrase Jo has come up with and enter to win her prize draw which hopefully includes delicious British chocolate!! So here is the letter, rendered in our pale American imitation of said chocolate:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqqa1v1VEp3hEFpb6ZRh18ydJNLlz5aVgbEQ_t0kJJA1bz5rj30I_bt4kOYYNbbj7uQkJTtjuOKHhM6ImoN3taSS7rzq7WSuwT1y4o3c7gWDOL6cwaJNe1l5q-20lumVb9VrvNND-1bKE/s1600/DSC09451.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqqa1v1VEp3hEFpb6ZRh18ydJNLlz5aVgbEQ_t0kJJA1bz5rj30I_bt4kOYYNbbj7uQkJTtjuOKHhM6ImoN3taSS7rzq7WSuwT1y4o3c7gWDOL6cwaJNe1l5q-20lumVb9VrvNND-1bKE/s400/DSC09451.JPG" width="400" height="391" /></a></div><br />
In case you can't see the picture, <font size=+3>L</font> is the letter! Have fun hopping, and remember, Christ is risen!!!<br />
<br />
Please continue hopping to the next blog, which is <br />

I'm squeaking in under the deadline this month, but I did manage to finish the stitching for a small!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg3ANBRyw-qqEYEYqv9DgG6qduRGl8n8FLU8BeZJQvL8tebINFgwrE8LT7hPo_wkOiv3YEwtjEXAWOS4x9e61XA9ihOpmBuFgHlU-JWSzArgUgK4Y5W44mXHysUA2FOn_AqGXV7UGWXSo/s1600/DSC09441.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg3ANBRyw-qqEYEYqv9DgG6qduRGl8n8FLU8BeZJQvL8tebINFgwrE8LT7hPo_wkOiv3YEwtjEXAWOS4x9e61XA9ihOpmBuFgHlU-JWSzArgUgK4Y5W44mXHysUA2FOn_AqGXV7UGWXSo/s400/DSC09441.JPG" width="348" height="400" /></a><br />
Keep a Secret by Just Nan</div><br />
I just need to finish the edge and then sew the wool on the back of this, then it will fit nicely in the pretty peacock tin. This is one of the pieces that the Sparkly Compote of Decree gave me for March Madness, and after working on it for a day, I thought, "Now that there is more sun with Daylight Saving Time, I can totally finish this tiny over-one piece!" So I did. =)<br />
<br />
I also have a small start on a medium piece; <a href="http://tiffstitch.blogspot.com">Tiffstitch</a> and I are doing a Wednesday SAL on Nora Corbet's letter "H". Here's my start, just a couple hours of stitching (you know, after stressing out about whether I was "really" starting in the center or not):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtevdR2lHm8k49bQByLODOrzd1w_dIusXVtI-h0v7RWf3wPy-DSXlrOihOqD92CwHLaZoLX5FwQWjVbC5B2eI6N-EakDEHZAKI_YP-_LIe7K7FKeHRwNmG6EH_tejNDN8g8oa36PQr8OM/s1600/DSC09443.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtevdR2lHm8k49bQByLODOrzd1w_dIusXVtI-h0v7RWf3wPy-DSXlrOihOqD92CwHLaZoLX5FwQWjVbC5B2eI6N-EakDEHZAKI_YP-_LIe7K7FKeHRwNmG6EH_tejNDN8g8oa36PQr8OM/s400/DSC09443.JPG" width="400" height="244" /></a></div><br />
Wherever Tiffstitch decides to start, I know hers will not look like mine, because I changed the color of her dress! That blob you see is the bottom hem of it. It's a funky shape because when I stitch with overdyes (especially ones that are as variegated as this one), I complete one X at a time, and I do not stitch in rows. This avoids what Leon Conrad once called the "stripey bacon" effect. Of course, sometimes you want that effect, but I want her dress to look like it's made of flower petals. The floss I'm using is called "Morning Glory" (which is a very ironic choice for stitching my fairy namesake, since mornings and I are not on friendly terms).<br />
<br />
Click the graphic at the top of this post if you'd like to see what smalls others have stitched in the past month!<br />

<br />
When last I checked in for March Madness, I was enjoying stitching on Prancer so much, I didn't really want to move on...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ285Jges3-j4Aa4Puu6eMHf_VD4ukYH0FAIunHKDDCk0FIFpszrhORFeublx__-1MdmlkmjiQ4Zh3V1JclhNYfjunvAeX69nBsEltiau438bgHT6F7JT6ux5RCTkNKohTQR9K5iXZvnw/s1600/DSC09402.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ285Jges3-j4Aa4Puu6eMHf_VD4ukYH0FAIunHKDDCk0FIFpszrhORFeublx__-1MdmlkmjiQ4Zh3V1JclhNYfjunvAeX69nBsEltiau438bgHT6F7JT6ux5RCTkNKohTQR9K5iXZvnw/s400/DSC09402.JPG" width="350" height="400" /></a></div>...so I didn't. The giant stocking and 80s-bridesmaid-dress-style bow are now done. Could an actual deer part make an appearance soon?? Any bets?<br />
<br />
I was reading one of the "Top Five Tuesday" posts that <a href="http://tiffstitch.blogspot.com/">Tiffstitches</a> does and saw that one of the things she wants to finish this year is the "H" by Nora Corbett. Hey! I have that chart! I kind of had to buy it, since the name of the design is "Heather". =) So, we decided to do a little SAL on Wednesdays. We start next week!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSvRuTNxXkrEspDAsso2aknvHtzHZcxwlhfIRSacfiAt7J7l_6J9MbPtQi24ROXV-ljzTwXlbTd3B5_aPXAfQaPJ9DvMTCvPvFILsQBSFyX85Q_0hXLtcm1ohiudlaH0m2jWddOBxXYwY/s1600/DSC09437.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSvRuTNxXkrEspDAsso2aknvHtzHZcxwlhfIRSacfiAt7J7l_6J9MbPtQi24ROXV-ljzTwXlbTd3B5_aPXAfQaPJ9DvMTCvPvFILsQBSFyX85Q_0hXLtcm1ohiudlaH0m2jWddOBxXYwY/s400/DSC09437.JPG" width="400" height="385" /></a></div>I had the threads, though I substituted the skin and dress colors. I went diving in my stash and came up with a piece of fabric that is almost exactly the same color as the Waterlily linen that is recommended (I actually had Waterlily, but stitching on those Wichelt linens is no fun for me). It's Squall from Sugar Maple Fabrics. Does anyone else have a small, deeply treasured stash of SMF?? I almost didn't want to use it, because then I won't have it anymore!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8xUfTolg_rkl4MrUliR2F7L30vj6ppqJhfAu6j-m62C9ABZaECyge4scwLK6AzXXGhdlHEH9MqUYyNBEhBEpi6RpUWEGD1hzjsopWDor2aOxLmcAAe_FIMpa7ZVa28qUV2Ylpu8Bvouo/s1600/DSC09404.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8xUfTolg_rkl4MrUliR2F7L30vj6ppqJhfAu6j-m62C9ABZaECyge4scwLK6AzXXGhdlHEH9MqUYyNBEhBEpi6RpUWEGD1hzjsopWDor2aOxLmcAAe_FIMpa7ZVa28qUV2Ylpu8Bvouo/s400/DSC09404.JPG" width="400" height="228" /></a></div>I have really been enjoying the Spring flowers (and Daylight Saving Time!!! Hooray for leaving work when it is still light!!) The pollen, not so much. I believe the pollen count here today is over 3500. Yes, three-five-zero-zero...not a typo. A coworker was visiting from Boston last week and when I told him the count was 1800, I thought his eyes were going to fall out of his head. I've pretty much felt like a zombie this week, although last weekend was worse; I think I actually had a virus!<br />
<br />
But, hey, the pollen is worth it!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihjuODpaO-nbnTvJBpZJNJsD1dkBYJcx3Ov6A9a2iAHsBS7X1ZR22IgPhdHOGKJ3LZSbUPtk3UHGZujKNiAwuw3OMLK_E-lDtXJ6vAVfx9CEjfq4vGGgV0c_da3hIRypPPFgMMX0aDLLo/s1600/IMG_20170328_194040_240.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihjuODpaO-nbnTvJBpZJNJsD1dkBYJcx3Ov6A9a2iAHsBS7X1ZR22IgPhdHOGKJ3LZSbUPtk3UHGZujKNiAwuw3OMLK_E-lDtXJ6vAVfx9CEjfq4vGGgV0c_da3hIRypPPFgMMX0aDLLo/s400/IMG_20170328_194040_240.jpg" width="400" height="400" /></a></div><br />

<br />
This month's theme was March Madness, a particular favorite of mine! Guided by the Sparkly Compote of Decree and the slips of paper I draw out of it, I try to stitch on a different WIP every single day in March! I always end up skipping a few days (the perils of having a full-time job). In case you missed my previous posts (because putting all those pictures in this one post would be too much!), here they are<br />
<ul><li><a href="http://lottloft.blogspot.com/2017/03/a-week-of-mice-and-madness.html">First March Madness update</a></li>
<li><a href="http://lottloft.blogspot.com/2017/03/gifted-gorgeousness-march-2017.html">Second March Madness update</a></li>
</ul>And now, what I've been up to in the past week or so! We left off with me drawing a "nice, big" project to work on...but it's actually a set of smalls!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXOTqAHk9C5kGkIITIsYC3jFD9rhzmhpL65qGNEUCn0KfwMz-fkBukeilwMPoSLU_lU310uuWSQ7kafk78q_1I63L7BJWgz3oftgk4SKQb8PL45X0L2bgUfgZSj0P6NWgWFKdOFJ7606A/s1600/DSC09397.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXOTqAHk9C5kGkIITIsYC3jFD9rhzmhpL65qGNEUCn0KfwMz-fkBukeilwMPoSLU_lU310uuWSQ7kafk78q_1I63L7BJWgz3oftgk4SKQb8PL45X0L2bgUfgZSj0P6NWgWFKdOFJ7606A/s400/DSC09397.JPG" width="400" height="253" /></a><br/>Ye Shall Prosper by Moss Creek Designs</div><br />
Squirrel! I really did not get much done here; just some chain stitch outlining. But if I waited until all the fun stitching was done before doing the outlines, I would never assemble these. The two small squares will be a tiny pin pillow, and the other two pieces will make an acorn-shaped scissors case. I need to do the back of that. The needlebook is already stitched, and then I just have the front and back of a thread bag to go and I'm done!<br />
<br />
The SCOD gets "moods"...last time, it was in a yarny mood. Well, this time...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwW2camHDCvw1hwVA4_b9QPVqcahos3yizCQ3UgfTLaHqhAqJdYKwpxEmt6fnBN-poQkaBb7JopoSmFnioA5qaki_eK7R5-LC1re9RPuNzwCdXua6JwmKxBceei4R8uAw3WbHI65sME5M/s1600/DSC09398.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwW2camHDCvw1hwVA4_b9QPVqcahos3yizCQ3UgfTLaHqhAqJdYKwpxEmt6fnBN-poQkaBb7JopoSmFnioA5qaki_eK7R5-LC1re9RPuNzwCdXua6JwmKxBceei4R8uAw3WbHI65sME5M/s400/DSC09398.JPG" width="400" height="325" /></a><br/>Spring Garden Gate by Moss Creek Designs</div><br />
it was in a Moss Creek mood! Two projects in two days! I managed to get all the lupine flowers (the blue ones) done...they are double-sided buttonhole bars. I really had to use the magnifier. But you're not allowed to look that closely at them. ;)<br />
<br />
That brings us up to March 17th...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_MWVjK_BE6t6aE0uzeICHfbbHk4HYfjgxwePRy33oGLKECfTNO6E64F7_Deg-IfPbW7vCmJ15rCsrzbQy_4efJHO43WGgW01QF3GPz97JdiHm6eCc568JpT6ahK0uROrSlp9JqZC5nJg/s1600/DSC09399.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_MWVjK_BE6t6aE0uzeICHfbbHk4HYfjgxwePRy33oGLKECfTNO6E64F7_Deg-IfPbW7vCmJ15rCsrzbQy_4efJHO43WGgW01QF3GPz97JdiHm6eCc568JpT6ahK0uROrSlp9JqZC5nJg/s400/DSC09399.JPG" width="370" height="400" /></a></div><br />
The only thing I can remember about this hardanger piece is that it's an ornament from the JCS 1997 ornament issue (and I'm too lazy to go look up the name and designer!) I swapped the DMC floss for some random Hand-Dyed Fibers. I got a good bit done after I figured out which way I was travelling....<br />
<br />
March 18th we saw Beauty and the Beast AND went to the Ballet, so I did not have time to stitch at all!<br />
<br />
March 19th:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt7lkJTWHfij_0HTa_59gUXFhivndpqc4YPaxCR4lUtQFhwyZ2a7F2j-wpmhsZHlx5sh-TQAkLnpXNDLfC7KB-vEgqbObRhn-OgkQtK1INkvrRB_xkIl9mVDF35P6ytQJ2BtKGuCcU4Lg/s1600/DSC09400.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt7lkJTWHfij_0HTa_59gUXFhivndpqc4YPaxCR4lUtQFhwyZ2a7F2j-wpmhsZHlx5sh-TQAkLnpXNDLfC7KB-vEgqbObRhn-OgkQtK1INkvrRB_xkIl9mVDF35P6ytQJ2BtKGuCcU4Lg/s400/DSC09400.JPG" width="400" height="300" /></a><br/>Peacock Tapestry by Teresa Wentzler</div><br />
At the rate I'm stitching this, I will be done when I am 237.<br />
<br />
March 20th I drew a magic blank slip (allowing me to choose!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVG5OArkmQzAzOzNoah5cGLph1dxtfmdbPxXqcIfz9faCnL0Jx8EkhBYg8eSTEdsQ1WpZbbnEnZWD_VDRdpmDFFaInzdFvfyW_MVlzKNxOZTu97osa_CexFJw2k361ICefVTlIvBtIV0U/s1600/DSC09401.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVG5OArkmQzAzOzNoah5cGLph1dxtfmdbPxXqcIfz9faCnL0Jx8EkhBYg8eSTEdsQ1WpZbbnEnZWD_VDRdpmDFFaInzdFvfyW_MVlzKNxOZTu97osa_CexFJw2k361ICefVTlIvBtIV0U/s400/DSC09401.JPG" width="298" height="400" /></a><br/>Prancer by Mirabilia</div><br />
Still no deer colors!<br />
<br />
Now I am really torn because I want to figure out a rotation (and I really just want to stitch some more on Prancer)...but I drew a slip out of the SCOD, anyway, just to see what it would say...and Spring Quakers popped out. That would be really fun to stitch, too...hmmmm....<br />
<br />
Next month's theme is April Showers: "What pieces do you have that contain water? - It might be rain, river, sea or lake - see how many stitches you can make!" I am golden here. Especially when I remember that snow is just frozen water. ;)<br />

As my birthday is the end of February, you may be thinking I'm going to show you all kinds of stitch-related gifts! Well, I at least have one:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihRKVUaCH1eNpjpBLUa3wB_1ZhGXbY2IOoTdegX02uAoPb93qimFk7UlsXZoRLmHRHR18H1Wz4WsVZvj32NCQWFo8TmgkIsFpUgyvdBb-Xq07tQkj8vCnxY69JM1G0wtDIEXU3I0bzS5M/s1600/DSC09304.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihRKVUaCH1eNpjpBLUa3wB_1ZhGXbY2IOoTdegX02uAoPb93qimFk7UlsXZoRLmHRHR18H1Wz4WsVZvj32NCQWFo8TmgkIsFpUgyvdBb-Xq07tQkj8vCnxY69JM1G0wtDIEXU3I0bzS5M/s400/DSC09304.JPG" width="400" height="377" /></a></div><br />
This is some of my haul from my wonderful spouse, and you'll notice the beautiful Jane Nicholas book at the bottom. My husband told me, "You already have everything I'm giving you, just not these versions." Yes, I have T-shirts and stumpwork books (even ones by Jane Nicholas), but of course I need MORE!<br />
<br />
And now, for the rest of the post, I will use the largest shoehorn that I own, as I want to show you what else has been happening during March Madness! My shoehorn is that the Sparkly Compote of Decree <b>gives<i></i></b> me the project I'll stitch on each day. <br />
<br />
We left off last Tuesday. Wednesday, March 8th, the SCOD wanted me to work on a <a href="http://lottloft.blogspot.com/2016/08/lottlympiad-2016-beginsand-you-hardly.html">scarf that I frogged during the Lottlympiad</a>. *ahem* I really should clean out the SCOD! So I picked the socks I took to Disney World in case we had decided to see the new Rivers of Light show, which would have required an hour wait. =)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx3G3Oq0zzZwCRIpvxzA91QyggVhazM_LlNqrM5EGqIXs_8AFmCMzqsHTZny46iPxGq6HiWcOPy6xcf8JyQh4CvTxtvmq9XA65fq4wbbxPJZJy_CbXJyCUnqjrKRjqXSol1r1YMyl0aT4/s1600/DSC09390.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx3G3Oq0zzZwCRIpvxzA91QyggVhazM_LlNqrM5EGqIXs_8AFmCMzqsHTZny46iPxGq6HiWcOPy6xcf8JyQh4CvTxtvmq9XA65fq4wbbxPJZJy_CbXJyCUnqjrKRjqXSol1r1YMyl0aT4/s400/DSC09390.JPG" width="366" height="400" /></a></div>Woo hoo! Happy Dance! March Madness has given me a finished object! Well, two, actually. I'm wearing them right now and they are quite comfy. =) The sock pattern is named Björk, but I called the project "Swan Feathers". Why? Well, when I think of Björk, I think of only one thing...<br />
<br />
...wait for it...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5T_QDMxXZGbVW2r4DysXn7pWAPCRDEOSRidrdY3ZIYyINZIDQ3v0RwgTBeTcpFNmXh1lZoap-G-uhHtTdeqj0X6FB3HVzs5OLQnbtgAwSHL6VbaNsSV0hKQS12JZunEq9Ft26BBNoB-g/s1600/swan.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5T_QDMxXZGbVW2r4DysXn7pWAPCRDEOSRidrdY3ZIYyINZIDQ3v0RwgTBeTcpFNmXh1lZoap-G-uhHtTdeqj0X6FB3HVzs5OLQnbtgAwSHL6VbaNsSV0hKQS12JZunEq9Ft26BBNoB-g/s400/swan.png"></a></div><br />
March 9th the SCOD coughed up a slip of paper with a project that I could not for the life of me find, so I picked this related project (sea-themed, like the one I was supposed to stitch):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqoViAPCSXXnFiwb-RsIWXsYPpmymVGHJYfUdgdw13LMT6xSrlGDdbGmpBH2D9O4YrZsW0jXtjgrwBXUIAgS9LiRteKm0uCBLos8LVcXOtyBrpRpjfqKLMhTAepyjHu0-84FBBErUCD3Q/s1600/DSC09384.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqoViAPCSXXnFiwb-RsIWXsYPpmymVGHJYfUdgdw13LMT6xSrlGDdbGmpBH2D9O4YrZsW0jXtjgrwBXUIAgS9LiRteKm0uCBLos8LVcXOtyBrpRpjfqKLMhTAepyjHu0-84FBBErUCD3Q/s400/DSC09384.JPG" width="400" height="264" /></a></div>This is an EGA nametag for my chapter I was supposed to have stitched a looooong time ago. <br />

I could probably have this finished soon if I just concentrated on it! I'm assuming I put it away because I couldn't see the over-one stitching, but now that Daylight Savings Time has given us the GIFT of more light, I could get back to it....<br />
<br />
March 11th: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5Xs8wrsR6ZXzFjJMXFzFp9coXsBcGjA7A264qnhqiXHZyv9SEwIs1Fw0jZy12lnsgtmAfZFE6xEJK1gECv8IYnoVki2RB1dRx5FO3W1z_CZvGxYAGeP0x44l4jWrzHOVA62Gj6IKSc5c/s1600/DSC09387.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5Xs8wrsR6ZXzFjJMXFzFp9coXsBcGjA7A264qnhqiXHZyv9SEwIs1Fw0jZy12lnsgtmAfZFE6xEJK1gECv8IYnoVki2RB1dRx5FO3W1z_CZvGxYAGeP0x44l4jWrzHOVA62Gj6IKSc5c/s400/DSC09387.JPG" width="283" height="400" /></a></div>Sanctuary by The Drawn Thread. This was plagued with problems when I picked it up. I wanted to start the trees on the left, but I seem to be missing JUST THAT ONE COLOR of NPI silk! Fine, after a fruitless search, I decided to just do the trees at the top. See that one pathetic tree trunk? Yeah, that's because I stitched all the trees before I realized I was ONE STITCH TO THE LEFT. I couldn't fudge it because there's a corner tree, and I would have had to fudge all four sides and corner trees similarly. *sigh*<br />
<br />
March 12th: This was a Sunday, so I was hoping for a nice, big project to work on. Instead, I got a paltry little knitting project. I drew again (I do that occasionally and switch days). ANOTHER yarny project! I drew a third time. Finally, a stitching project!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRakRNdyH5htXQOqzmUvU3awzMqzpj0ULLgSYHq-uyi3j3u09KcXiy1Jvj96QDf3dM7wd_ieQxQe3xBabw1bAfBYAh7cmGTAeZFPYs9u33DShI4TvGVOGLSqaK4m7OD4X7bLNLNzQWm3o/s1600/DSC09389.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRakRNdyH5htXQOqzmUvU3awzMqzpj0ULLgSYHq-uyi3j3u09KcXiy1Jvj96QDf3dM7wd_ieQxQe3xBabw1bAfBYAh7cmGTAeZFPYs9u33DShI4TvGVOGLSqaK4m7OD4X7bLNLNzQWm3o/s400/DSC09389.JPG" width="400" height="342" /></a></div>And then, it turned out that with church and errands and other commitments, I didn't have time for a nice, big project, so I worked on the knitting, anyway. The Sparkly Compote of Decree is looking mighty smug in that picture, wouldn't you say?<br />
<br />
March 13th: No stitching. Apocalyptic day!<br />
<br />
March 14th: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigc7gHvEIgyyWBT50DoB8Vc-V7Nweb8oMNM5QpxMjIXnebYWTsynPLAxZtB0TpHrbieBLb8rvPps4_7hz-Mku-tWgMPHcKdvv8K8F7kLDS3TWfJlXUQCZlJvLG8kLj38G3c4tsyXhHcA0/s1600/DSC09396.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigc7gHvEIgyyWBT50DoB8Vc-V7Nweb8oMNM5QpxMjIXnebYWTsynPLAxZtB0TpHrbieBLb8rvPps4_7hz-Mku-tWgMPHcKdvv8K8F7kLDS3TWfJlXUQCZlJvLG8kLj38G3c4tsyXhHcA0/s400/DSC09396.JPG" width="400" height="264" /></a></div>The SCOD, in its yarny mood, gave me the oldest (and only) crochet WIP I have. A friend kindly taught a few of us to crochet using a cute little acorn bag. According to Ravelry, that was 2009!!! After doing two rounds in what I thought was single crochet but turned out to be something I made up, then ripping and doing one round correctly, I decided I really hate crochet and I frogged the whole thing today! So now I have the gift of spare yarn....<br />
<br />
Well, my shoehorn is starting to bend under the strain, so I will leave you wondering what project the SCOD has given me today...it's the nice, big one I drew for on Sunday!geeky Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14311984338621692746noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4037646455011773371.post-30738993482472866632017-03-12T12:09:00.000-05:002017-03-15T17:18:25.396-05:00A Week of Mice and Madness<a href="#jiffmicemad">Click now for JiffNotes</a><br />

If you're participating in <a href="http://ramblingsofabiscornuaddict.blogspot.com/p/theme-tas-stitch-2017.html">Theme-Tas-Stitch</a> (or you've been around here for over a year), you know that March means March Madness. And that means that I try to stitch on something different every day of the month! I don't always succeed, because I don't always get to stitch every day, but on the days I do get to stitch, I draw a slip of paper out of the SCOD (<a href="http://lottloft.blogspot.com/2017/02/theme-tas-stitch-focus-finish-february.html">Sparkly Compote of Decree</a>), and it tells me what I stitch that day. March first brought me this beauty to work on...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoHQhNNnwqc4hm-9SwexGA2zalvu2AR50CYS4vjv6nS1v8VunF1Um0nES-AUFUHtXqLxH5eOZ6HE-X1KbUWj51Rrt6nEtIlcfTGRJNJvtI9GNwfpcXyPwzv_mwRDbilO2WIHhh86LIWfw/s1600/DSC09380-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoHQhNNnwqc4hm-9SwexGA2zalvu2AR50CYS4vjv6nS1v8VunF1Um0nES-AUFUHtXqLxH5eOZ6HE-X1KbUWj51Rrt6nEtIlcfTGRJNJvtI9GNwfpcXyPwzv_mwRDbilO2WIHhh86LIWfw/s400/DSC09380-001.JPG" width="400" height="264" /></a></div>This is Toccata by The Drawn Thread. I only got one little square done, but, hey, that's pretty good for a work night.<br />
<br />
March 2nd we went to see Phantom of the Opera at the <a href="http://foxtheatre.org/">fabulous Fox</a> after work, so I got no stitching done that night. (My one-sentence review of the show is that if you saw it in the 90s, don't bother, because this production is much scaled down and misses a lot of the iconic staging moments.) <br />
<br />
The next day, I told the SCOD to go take a flying leap, I was working on my first Loopy Academy project, Spliced (qualification: must be a two-color-per-row project):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNYT0PO_RlsmoyojxU1sMLmA0DUK4Y9N-HE9qK4pSU88Ze4vQZiZcbl6ooVpXD3bufJNAq4X_pdUCa6XKK1uDpeuGHzScb2aEJNhnSyCubViF6gfunJqpIKiUuhUWL0eyWhBEhEHvW_fw/s1600/DSC09382.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNYT0PO_RlsmoyojxU1sMLmA0DUK4Y9N-HE9qK4pSU88Ze4vQZiZcbl6ooVpXD3bufJNAq4X_pdUCa6XKK1uDpeuGHzScb2aEJNhnSyCubViF6gfunJqpIKiUuhUWL0eyWhBEhEHvW_fw/s400/DSC09382.JPG" width="400" height="267" /></a></div>I did not get all of that done, but I did get a lot of it done. The next two days I did not stitch at all, because I had better things to do...<br />

Sometimes the Festival starts just after my birthday, so although some of the topiary displays are up, we don't get to enjoy other aspects of the Festival, like the fabulous food booths!<br />

Our second day, we got up early and hustled over to the back entrance of the park (we stayed at the Swan, so we were able to walk...and a big shout out to my Falcons for being in the Super Bowl and getting us a three-for-two deal there!) We wanted to be there at "rope drop" so we could speed-walk over to Norway and be in line for Frozen Ever After!<br />

The wait time can balloon up to several hours, so getting there early is your only hope if you can't get FastPasses (and we made the decision to go down too late to get them). We only waited about 10 minutes! We really enjoyed the ride and talked about how cool it is to go on a brand new Disney attraction...it's a treat that doesn't come along every day!<br />
<br />
I'll end my pictorial review with a pair of dragons, because: DRAGONS!<br />

That doesn't quite bring us up to today, but here's the last picture that was in the camera, from Tuesday:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirMs7IWWA2dn35MzBePqxdXKYXFTtb1ZP7H9m8bcjfHOydE3UwHaaAWiiSU0Q9GzB0ZR5llQbu0d2J-E1VIfMB5itvehIrb-N9F2OXceEl9dKlRgzS2XGyXeC3wSDy6P0MkRuO7gZAf5g/s1600/DSC09381.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirMs7IWWA2dn35MzBePqxdXKYXFTtb1ZP7H9m8bcjfHOydE3UwHaaAWiiSU0Q9GzB0ZR5llQbu0d2J-E1VIfMB5itvehIrb-N9F2OXceEl9dKlRgzS2XGyXeC3wSDy6P0MkRuO7gZAf5g/s400/DSC09381.JPG" width="400" height="353" /></a></div>The SCOD coughed up a blank slip of paper, which means I get to choose! So I picked a project out of the Drawer of Shame...it's a drawer in our coffee table where I keep stitching supplies like scissors, needle minders, stitch markers, etc. But it also contains various random small projects that get stuffed in there for one reason or another. I decided to stitch something from there to help clean it out...I wasn't sure what all was in there! I found a few ornament kits that were not started, an ornament with one side stitched, one side unstitched, and one side completely missing (along with the fibers!), a bead kit, a stumpwork ornament whose directions I'm sure I packed in a box somewhere, various other things, and this. This was pretty much the only started thing in there that had all its bits together! It's going to be a PEACE tree by M Designs. If I have enough fibers left to complete it. I have my doubts...<br />
<br />
The madness will continue! Stay tuned...<br />
