Things I Made This Weekend...

Click now for JiffNotes

On Friday, I took a lampwork class and made shiny beads!
I'm showing you their "good" sides, but overall, I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. AND I didn't burn down the classroom! =D I'm going to take the same class again and then hopefully I'll have things down enough to take a more advanced class or just pay for "torch time" and practice on my own.

I made some Mint Meringues, but I used mint extract rather than peppermint extract.
This was a mistake...they kind of taste like toothpaste cookies. Bleahrgh.

I made bread! I can't remember whose blog I read it on, but here's a link to the basic recipe (plus cute 4-year-old).
NO KNEAD BREAD!! So easy even *I* can make it! It needed to bake a little longer, or something, but it was still awesome warm and buttered. Mmmmm.... And then on Sunday, I turned it into this. NOM.

I finished my Mint Twist socks!
I told you you wouldn't recognize them! They still need to be blocked, so I think they will look even more awesome then.

It was so nice to have a couple of sunny days!! More rain tomorrow, though. =(

I went from using a 950 degree (F) kiln to a 200 degree oven all in one weekend!

I love everything you've made. A few years ago ... well, more than a few ... I took a lampwork class & fell in love! I actually set up a studio in my basement with the torch & kiln & the whole 9 yards. Really enjoyed it! I still have my beads somewhere. Sold all my equipment before one of our moves & never got back into it, but it was fun at the time : ) Your beads look great!

Wow, torch time. That sounds exciting, and a little dangerous! Your beads are spectacular! I'm so impressed with all the socks you knit. One of these days, I'm gonna have to take a sock class.

What fun stuff! The beads are so pretty. Toothpaste mints - you could market them as health food! The bread looks yummy and no kneading... a real plus. And such warm looking socks.. love those too. Incredible weekend!

I presume the mint cookies were a reward for finishing your mint socks LOL - both are gorgeous! I love lampwork but never dreamed to make them myself. YGG - Mel

Ha ha--toothpaste meringues! They sure are pretty even if their taste isn't the best!! I'm sure that amazing looking bread made up for them :) I should try that recipe, but homemade bread is my weakness and I fear eating the entire loaf by myself!

Great looking socks and I love those blue beads, Heather :)

Very impressive turn around on the socks! The charts on that must have been endless, goodness that is a lot of cabling and yarn overs.

Very nice beads too! Not burning yourself is the major hurdle. lol
