Besides being a stitcher, I'm also a quilt historian.<br /><br />We often run into this issue with old quilts. A good remedy you might want to try is to lay the smelly stash on a clean sheet or since it's small stuff put it in a pillow case and lay it out in the sun on the grass. If you use a sheet make sure it's covered or you might get "bird gifts" if you know what I mean. Leave it out there for a couple hours or so.<br /><br />The chlorophyll in the grass and the heat from the sun will pull the nasty out. I know it sounds crazy but it does work.
